Kayla Bauer Reflection

What I got from her artwork and connected to most was " I Left My Heart." She says her artwork has a deep emotional connection to the places that Kayla visited and the people she met when she traveled. I also took away that Kayla Bauer's reflection on her journey towards embracing travel, particularly her newfound connection to Japan and her exploration of San Francisco, offers a rich narrative of personal growth and discovery. I deeply resonate with Kayla's artwork, specifically " I Left My Heart." I say this because I can relate to her experiences of anxiety, self-discovery, and how when travel can transform a person. I also can understand and connect to her artwork more because Kayla's use of photography to capture everyday details and moments of beauty in San Francisco invites viewers to engage visually with her artwork. When Looking at her work, she uses the vibrant colors of Japantown, then the serene landscapes of Golden Gate Park. I feel a deep connection to her photographs because she offers a diverse cultural tapestry of the city; that is the kind of artwork I want to end up doing because what I feel from this is she is encouraging viewers to appreciate Japantown and the landscapes of Golden Gate Park, its unique charm and character. I enjoyed seeing her souvenirs in the case she had on display because that evokes feelings of nostalgia and longing. I always remember when my parents and I traveled anywhere. I got something to remember my time in that specific place. Whenever I look at these souvenirs, I always get nostalgic, and it was nice to feel that way again because, due to Kayla's artwork, I remember my simpler times, which transported me back to that moment. Ultimately, I enjoyed this artist looking and reading her artist's statement about her artistic journey. I believe that if someone is looking at this and thinks about it, it would inspire and make you think about pursuing your passions, even if that means you would have to overcome a personal obstacle. I believe that is what I felt after seeing and reading her artist statement.
