Kayla Bauer Reflection

Image
What I got from her artwork and connected to most was " I Left My Heart." She says her artwork has a deep emotional connection to the places that Kayla visited and the people she met when she traveled. I also took away that Kayla Bauer's reflection on her journey towards embracing travel, particularly her newfound connection to Japan and her exploration of San Francisco, offers a rich narrative of personal growth and discovery. I deeply resonate with Kayla's artwork, specifically " I Left My Heart." I say this because I can relate to her experiences of anxiety, self-discovery, and how when travel can transform a person. I also can understand and connect to her artwork more because Kayla's use of photography to capture everyday details and moments of beauty in San Francisco invites viewers to engage visually with her artwork. When Looking at her work, she uses the vibrant colors of Japantown, then the serene landscapes of Golden Gate Park. I feel a deep c

Twenty Spaces (Exercise Number Three)

What Point in this space I wanted to focus on was the two plants that are off to the left side of the photo, I carefully placed the plants in the same corner of the frame. The sunlight in the corner was a lucky part of the photo because it made you focus more on the left side of the picture more.  In this point in space I was foucused on getting the sunlight to be off to the side of the picture but almost distract the viewers eye with a bright line of light.  This photo the space I was going for was getting how weird it was to see just some random clothes tied up to a tree and on a log down by the river near Trevor. I am still trying to figure out what happened with this.  The point in space I was focused on was this squirrel making direct eye contact with me. Me and my cousin were walking in a park close to his apartment in Chicago and we were carrying some honey roasted peanuts and my cousin wanted to get the the picture of it looking at me opening the bag, and yes we did give the sq

So I still want to create a portfolio. When thinking about it more I want to play with the concept of black and white, and color photos now when creating this concept of creepy or uneasy photos, I really want to play with how I could make a color photo and a black and white one have the same uneasy feeling and recently I went around campus with my Nikon camera and I was trying to use harsh lighting and deep shadows to try to create the dramatic contrasts, an d I am thinking about getting those developed this weekend or next week. I am hoping that all the photos turned out the way I planned but if not I can alway retake them. For the color photos I am thinking about using d esaturate colors or to try to distort my photo to a muted color. I am thinking of using photoshop to try to get that feeling in the colored photos. I also am c onsidering adding a slight tint or hue to my photos like cool blues.      These are two of the photos I recently took one of the ocean and one of the moo

Ten Spaces (Exercise Number Two)

Image
The first photo I picked was because the space was very wide, but even thought the space is very wide I was focused on how the light from behind me was focused on one point the 215 sign, and seeing if the viewers who looked at this would focus on the sign too. When I alway go to state parks I always take flower photos and I alway love how my camera will blur out everything else in the background and make the one focus point a sharper image  Same in this photo even when I wanted to focus on the buildings when I was in the car my camera decided to focus on the raindrops. This is one of my favorite photos because of the detail it gave the raindrops while also still giving some blurred detail to the buildings.  In this photo it is the same as the 215 picture I like how the light on the one side of the photo is giving the flowers some light to make it a space that you focus your eyes more on what the light is shining on.   In this space the viewer is really focused on the lighted tunnel, I

Religious Building (Exercise Number One)

Image
The architectural wonders and historical significance of many Polish churches and buildings evoke a sense of awe and wonder for me. One because it is a privilege to see something so beautiful and two because when you stand there and look at it for a while it is very hard to explain but you almost have an appreciation for the history behind the building and details of the building. When I looked at the intricate details in the structure of each of these buildings, I was thinking to myself the century old craftsmanship and how much time that it took them to complete and the dedication to every little detail of the creation. The building I mostly felt that about was the first picture on this post of the church. When I went into that church it was the most beautiful sight, the amount of time it must have taken to carve the wooden parts and how much time the stained glass took.      I learned when I was there that many of the buildings in Poland represent a rich tapestry of cultural a
